Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to develop asset strategies, lead root cause analyses, and prioritize outages across multi-site operations in the United States. You will collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to improve asset availability and implement best practices in reliability engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in reliability engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of current maintenance and reliability best practices.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies.
  • Strong maintenance, reliability, or engineering background.
  • Professional Engineering registration preferred.
  • Process Safety Management experience preferred.
  • CMRP certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial and nonfinancial data and articulate economic impacts.
  • Able to sit/stand for long periods; navigate industrial settings.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize asset strategies through loss elimination, risk management, and life cycle asset management.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis of plant or business operations failures.
  • Prioritize outage work orders based on risk and criticality.
  • Work with the client’s reliability team to improve operational efficiency and asset availability.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Reliability.
  • Drive adoption of Maintenance & Reliability Best Practices.
  • Design or modify asset care strategies and procedures using Risk-based, RCM, and FMEA methods.
  • Collaborate with technical resources to solve chronic equipment problems.
  • Lead equipment failure investigations using root cause analysis, 5-Why, and other analytic techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance to production, technical, and engineering teams.
  • Guide maintenance personnel in precision repair, maintenance, and equipment installation.
  • Analyze equipment option costs and benefits to meet reliability objectives.
  • Create or modify site procedures to reflect current industry best practices.
  • Travel between sites, including sites in Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas.

Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required
  • 5 or more years of relevant industrial experience in reliability engineering
  • Practical knowledge of current maintenance and reliability best practices required
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies required
  • Strong maintenance, reliability, or engineering background preferred
  • Professional Engineering registration highly preferred
  • Process Safety Management experience preferred
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret financial and nonfinancial data and articulate economic impacts

  • Ability to walk reasonable distances, including on uneven ground or catwalks, and ascend stairs
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate industrial/manufacturing settings
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, crawl, maneuver in confined spaces, and reach with both arms
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
