Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer to apply physics, math, materials science and mechanical design to tackle complex engineering challenges, develop tooling, support manufacturing, and improve product performance throughout the life cycle.

You will identify and resolve complex issues, design layouts and specs, perform analyses, and lead technical projects, while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Demonstrated experience with CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design and material selection.
• Experience with manufacturing methods, GD&T, flow analysis, and Design for Excellence principles.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve complex mechanical issues with minimal supervision.
• Define, coordinate, execute, and document engineering tests and reports.
• Develop, design, or modify complex mechanical layouts, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform complex engineering analyses with limited supervision.
• Lead or execute technical projects, develop key suppliers, and create mechanical product specifications.
• Design, develop, and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixtures, and related processes to support part handling, assembly, disassembly, and operational standardization.
• Specify, review, and maintain engineering documentation.
• Develop concepts and mechanical solutions for complex product issues.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and build alignment across stakeholders.
• Travel up to 20% as needed to customer sites and supplier facilities.
