About Silana

Silana is redefining how garments are made. We're building the first robotic cell capable of fully automating garment assembly—starting with tank tops, and expanding to broader apparel production. By combining robotics, vision, and industrial sewing systems, we’re enabling a future of localized, scalable, and human-free manufacturing.

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, Silana is headquartered in New York and led by a team of engineers solving hard problems at the intersection of hardware, software, and the real world.

The Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on productization and deployment—someone who can take complex mechanical subsystems from late-stage prototype to field-ready reliability. You will play a key role in closing the loop between R&D and real-world manufacturing—ensuring our systems meet the performance, safety, and repeatability standards required for scale.

This is a structured, systems-level role for an engineer who values precision, technical clarity, and clean documentation. Your work will directly impact the reliability and manufacturability of our automation cells deployed in customer facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Finalize mechanical assemblies with a focus on robustness, manufacturability, and repeatability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate mechanical designs with robotic arms, sensors, vision, and control logic.
  • Own part release workflows, revision tracking, and supplier communication for mechanical components.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for reliability or performance issues in field systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical subsystems are ready for deployment: safe, maintainable, and service-friendly.
  • Produce detailed 2D technical drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and DFM feedback loops.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years experience in mechanical product development, automation machinery, or industrial equipment.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools; able to produce production-grade technical documentation.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical tolerancing, DFM principles, and material selection.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and manufacturers to bring parts into production.
  • Experience deploying physical systems in production, factory, or field environments.
  • High attention to detail, with a systematic approach to revision control and subsystem validation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with safety standards (CE, ISO), UL certification, or industrial enclosure design.
  • Basic Knowledge in PLC Systems.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic actuators, linear motion, or automated textile equipment.
