Job summary

AMETEK Solidstate Controls in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead design, development, and project execution for UPS, Battery Charger, and Bargraph products. You’ll collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Electrical Engineering to meet customer requirements, production needs, and business goals.

The role emphasizes mechanical design, project management, and ongoing product improvements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with opportunities to advance across AMETEK

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical design and product-development experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks/Creo/Inventor) and AutoCAD, plus BOM creation.
• Experience with sheet metal design, enclosures, PCB/display integration, and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design input and manufacturability improvements for UPS, Battery Charger, and Bargraph lines.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with Manufacturing, Quality, Electrical Engineering, and Sales.
• Manage projects from concept through production release and monitor schedules/budgets.
• Document updates, tooling changes, and obsolescence management for legacy products.
• Drive Value Analysis / Value Engineering to reduce cost while preserving performance.
