Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Power & Energy team. The role supports design of piping and equipment for power generation facilities across multiple locations, including Houston, Seattle, Boise and more.

You will work within a growing organization delivering projects with cross-functional teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, QA/QC and safe, efficient engineering practices. The position offers opportunities for mentorship and career development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microstation or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Smart Plant 3D or CADworx.
  • Experience with Caesar II or AutoPipe.
  • Experience with Thermoflow.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, regulations and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities.
  • Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs and bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other engineers.
  • Prepare construction scopes of work for mechanical systems.
  • Develop PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Perform piping design calculations including sizing and pressure drop.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects.
  • Maintain QA/QC standards and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Analyze field data and contribute to action plans for risk installations.
  • Prepare and implement site HASPs.
  • Stay current with mechanical engineering practices.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
