Job summary

HED is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to own portions of project design from concept through construction. The role includes calculations, code research, QA/QC, and cross-discipline coordination, with opportunities to mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, and 5+ years in the AEC industry. The position supports a hybrid work model, with in-office days in Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
• P.E. licensure required.
• 5+ years in the AEC industry preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Revit experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for mechanical systems across schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
• Independently perform mechanical design tasks including load calculations, equipment sizing, controls sequences and diagrams, and code compliance checks.
• Prepare technical documentation for mechanical systems and develop/review layouts in Revit with coordination across disciplines.
• Mentor mechanical designers and interns in software use, modeling best practices, and documentation standards.
