Job summary

HED, a leading architecture and engineering firm, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the Sacramento, CA area. You will own portions of project design, documentation, and coordination, taking independent ownership with minimal supervision.

Ideal candidates have a 5+ years track record in AEC, a P.E. license, and a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, with strong Revit skills and a collaborative, mentoring mindset for a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required.
• P.E. licensure required.
• 5+ years in the AEC industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for mechanical systems across project phases.
• Perform mechanical design tasks including load calculations, equipment sizing, and code compliance checks.
• Prepare technical documentation for mechanical systems and specifications.
• Develop and review mechanical layouts in Revit in coordination with other disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to resolve design conflicts and progress design.
• Review RFIs and submittals with support from engineers.
• Perform field verification and participate in construction observation visits.
• Mentor mechanical designers and interns in software use and best practices.
• Participate in project meetings and assist with agendas/minutes.
