Location: Philadelphia PA, Metairie LA, Orlando FL, Charlotte NC, Little Rock AR, Nashville, TN, and Temple/Tucson AZ

Schedule: Onsite (Hybrid/Remote flexibility)

Travel Requirements: 5–10% to project sites within the state

Overview

The Mechanical Engineer PE I applies advanced engineering principles to design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems for commercial and institutional projects. Acting as Engineer of Record, the role leads mechanical design packages, ensures code compliance, and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

Design & Analysis:

  • Sign and seal mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and process-piping systems; perform load calculations and equipment selections.
  • Conduct energy-savings studies and life-cycle cost assessments.
  • Draft and review BIM/Revit models; oversee document quality control.

Project Execution & Field Support:

  • Visit project sites to verify existing conditions and support system startup/commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, and controls teams to ensure integrated designs.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and client presentations.
  • Guide junior engineers and designers through calculation methodologies and best practices.
  • Champion continuous improvement, safety, and sustainability initiatives within the mechanical discipline.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • EIT plus 4 years of experience under a PE.
  • 4–7 years of mechanical-system design experience, including HVAC energy-savings projects.
  • Proficiency with load-calculation software and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and multitasking abilities.

Preferred

  • Active PE license.
  • Experience with healthcare, higher-education, or central-energy-plant mechanical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage protection/power distribution and paralleled generator systems.
