Job summary

Hut8 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who designs data-center mechanical systems from first principles, owns the outcome, and builds the runway as they go. You will develop end-to-end solutions for chilled-water plants, cooling, piping, and fire protection on mission-critical facilities.

You must hold an Active PE license, have 7+ years of experience in data centers or similar, and be comfortable working with contractors through commissioning in Miami.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing mechanical systems for data centers, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Comfortable reading and redlining P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and construction documents.
• Experience working directly with contractors, vendors, and construction teams through commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems end-to-end for data centers, including chilled-water plants, air cooling, DLC, piping, and fire protection.
• Serve as Engineer of Record with responsibility for calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Oversee construction and commissioning, coordinate with contractors to prevent delays, and sign off only when thoroughly correct.
• Push on cost, constructability, and third-party deliverables without compromising critical quality.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Design it: Own mechanical system design end-to-end: chilled-water plants, air-cooled and direct-liquid-cooling (DLC) systems, piping, and fire protection.
• Stamp it: Take professional responsibility for calculations, drawings, and specifications as Engineer of Record, not a reviewer of someone else's work, the author of it.
• Build it: Stay close to construction and commissioning, catch conflicts before they become delays, and sign off only when it's actually right.
• Challenge it: Push on cost, constructability, and third-party engineering deliverables without cutting the corners that matter.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7+ years designing mechanical systems for data centers, industrial, or other mission-critical facilities.
• Working knowledge of IMC, IPC, IECC, NFPA 13, ASME B31, and ASHRAE TC 9.9, backed by hands-on experience with chilled-water plants and liquid-cooling architectures.
• Comfortable reading and redlining P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and construction documents without help.
• Experience working directly with contractors, vendors, and construction teams through commissioning.
