Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a qualified forensic engineer to conduct comprehensive investigations of vehicles, equipment and accident sites, documenting evidence and determining damage scope. You will assess failures, determine origins for insurers and litigation, and test causation with cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The role requires a PE license, 6+ years of experience, and strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Six (6) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts investigations of vehicles, equipment, and accident sites to document the evidence and determine the scope of damage.
  • Investigates and assesses damages due to failures and determines the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
  • Researches, evaluates, analyzes and tests the causation of accidents and failures.
  • Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to produce detailed reports outlining the cause of the accident.
  • Serves as an expert witness in court and/or in depositions.
  • Documents and maintains billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and engineering projects for clients.
  • Collaborates with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects.
