Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join project teams delivering world-class designs for a range of facilities, including power, process, healthcare, aviation and government sectors. You will design from concept through construction, update CAD drawings, and support client presentations.

The role requires ABET-accredited education, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM (Revit). Occasional fieldwork and cross-discipline collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering; 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
FE exam completed or in progress; 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
Modify and review production drawings for diverse facilities including power, process, industrial, healthcare and more.
Design mechanical components per project manager requirements.
Apply strong knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, codes and procedures.
Research and compile project data for managers.
Update drawings in CAD and verify corrections in CAD software.
Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
Perform other duties as assigned and comply with policies and standards.

Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
Applies strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers.
Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Master'sDegree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

Compensation

$110,000.00-220,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
