Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work on project teams delivering designs for power, process, healthcare, airports and more, from concept through construction, adapting plans to budget and client needs.

Responsibilities include mechanical design, drawing reviews, CAD updates (AutoCAD, Revit), field inspections and data for client presentations. Travel up to 25% may be required across diverse facilities and industries.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree with 3+ years experience (consulting preferred).
• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology degree with FE exam and 3+ years experience (consulting preferred).
• MS in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years experience (consulting preferred).
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in standard engineering practices and procedures.
• Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, BIM, 3D rendering, hydraulic and HVAC tools.
• Experience with CAD updates and drawings review.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
• Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements as set forth by project managers.
• Applies strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
• Research and compile project related data as required by project managers.
• Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
• Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
• Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

• Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

• Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.

• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

• Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.

• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

• Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.

• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

• Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

Compensation

$110,000.00-220,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
