Job summary

Jacobs seeks an On-Site Mechanical Engineer to lead on-site HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems for a critical facility near Baton Rouge, LA. The role focuses on installation oversight, field coordination, and timely issue resolution to meet project milestones.

You will leverage 10+ years in mechanical design/construction or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers, with expertise in chilled water systems and CRAH/CRAC units. Strong communication and coordination with multiple teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations experience; 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience with chilled water systems, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, piping systems, and mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
• Perform daily site observations and assess installation progress and workmanship.
• Coordinate mechanical design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Facilitate responses to RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Support reviews of equipment layouts, utility routing, and coordination between trades.
• Participate in constructability reviews, BIM coordination activities, and mockup evaluations.
• Identify and document mechanical installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support factory testing, bench testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve installation issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
• Proactively identify design, quality, and schedule risks and support resolution strategies.

JACOBS has an immediate opportunity for an On-Site Mechanical Engineer at our project near Baton Rouge, LA.

The Mechanical On-Site Engineer serves as the Professional's field representative for mechanical systems and oversees coordination between construction teams and the engineering design team. The base salary range for this position is $95,200.00 to $130,900.00.
