Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a Mechanical Engineer in the Reactor Project Engineering department to design and analyze mechanical systems for advanced nuclear reactors, collaborating with world-class scientists to support INL program sponsors. The role is based at the Materials and Fuels Complex with a 4x10 schedule and Fridays off.

You will mentor junior staff, oversee fabrication, installation, and testing, and ensure compliance with codes and standards across multiple INL projects and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in engineering or related field with required experience per level
• Ability to obtain DOE clearance and US citizenship
• ABET-accredited or equivalent program background preferred

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical systems for advanced nuclear reactors
• Review adequacy of external design work
• Decompose project goals into defined design requirements
• Develop physics-based models of mechanical systems
• Apply national consensus codes and standards
• Document designs to meet requirements
• Oversee fabrication, installation, and testing
• Mentor and train junior engineers
• Support and lead new project development and proposals
