Job summary

Dematic's Lifecycle Support Services Modernizations and Upgrades (LSSMU) team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer at an early career level to contribute to material handling system design and project execution.

Hybrid role with work across Grand Rapids, MI; Wauwatosa, WI; Henrietta, NY. You will lead mechanical scopes, perform site audits, and collaborate with customers to ensure on-time delivery and quality. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 0-5 years of related mechanical engineering experience preferred
  • Proficient in CAD design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX) and MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete mechanical engineering scope for material handling systems
  • Perform site audits to collect project and solution information
  • Design semi-complex systems integrating mechanical hardware, controls, and software
  • Support specification and preparation of engineering sketches, manufactured equipment, and layout drawings
  • Follow Purchase Request and Order Entry processes to procure equipment and release assemblies
  • Support on-site installation and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with customers to troubleshoot equipment on-site and improve processes
  • Regularly report on project performance including delivery, budget, quality, and risks
  • Suggest ideas for efficiency improvements and cost reduction

This individual will be part of a project execution team dedicated to one of Dematic’s strategic clients. The successful candidate will have 0-5 years of experience contributing to and leading material handling system design and application on varying scale projects. Candidates must have significant experience with material handling systems and demonstrated success working taking initiative, working under pressure and maintaining composure in front of customers. The LSSMU Mechanical Engineer will be highly involved with completing and leading daily tactical project execution tasks necessary for the successful completion of multiple short duration projects throughout the year.
