Job summary

Barr is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support multidisciplinary teams in advancing large capital projects within power generation, oil and gas, and manufacturing. You will develop calculations, specifications and drawings, selecting equipment and guiding execution from concept through bid packages.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a mechanical engineering degree, travel willingness, and PE certification is strongly preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office and simulation modeling.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • PE certification strongly preferred or ability to obtain.

  • Lead mechanical engineering and project management for large capital projects in power generation, oil & gas, and manufacturing.
  • Develop and review calculations, system specifications and construction drawings; select equipment and guide project execution from concept to bid packages.
  • Contribute to technical reports, cost estimates, proposals, and client-facing documentation.
  • Ensure milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients.
  • Serve as lead engineer or PM on large capital projects within target industries.

Job description

  • Support the Engineering and Design business unit, working with multidisciplinary project teams to serve industrial clients in the power generation, oil and gas, and manufacturing sectors.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, system specifications, and construction drawings; select equipment and components; and guide project execution from concept to bid packages.
  • Contribute to technical reports, cost estimates, proposals, and client-facing documentation that support critical infrastructure investments.
  • Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients.
  • Serve as lead mechanical engineer or project manager for large capital projects within industries.
Requirements
  • Education: mechanical engineering degree
  • Experience: 5+ years or relevant experience
  • Willingness and ability to regularly travel
  • Software: familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software, and computer simulation modeling
  • Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly preferred or ability to obtain.
