Job summary

Stillpoint AEC is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and building systems within an MEP/AEC environment. You will lead assignments across diverse projects, sizing equipment, developing layouts, and coordinating with disciplines to deliver high-quality construction documents.

The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering degree, hands-on design experience, and familiarity with industry software such as Revit, AutoCAD, TRACE, HAP, and EnergyPlus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Current HVAC/building systems design experience in an MEP/AEC environment.
• Experience with design software and codes such as ASHRAE, IMC, IECC.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and mechanical building systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, central plants, heating and cooling systems, ventilation.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing and selection, psychrometric analysis, energy calculations.
• Develop HVAC system layouts, ductwork and piping designs, equipment schedules, mechanical details, and control sequences.
• Evaluate and select mechanical equipment including air handling units, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, terminal equipment.
• Work across a diverse portfolio of project types including commercial, healthcare, K-12, higher education, life sciences, corporate, multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, industrial, and institutional facilities.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Apply ASHRAE standards, mechanical codes, energy codes, and applicable building design standards.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, civil, and other project disciplines.
• Support projects through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
• Provide project coordination, technical guidance, client interaction, and mentorship based on experience level.

The firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with current experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for buildings within an MEP consulting engineering or AEC environment. Responsibilities and project leadership will align with the individual's technical expertise and experience level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline preferred
• Current HVAC and mechanical building systems design experience within an MEP consulting engineering, architectural engineering, or AEC consulting environment required
• Experience with HVAC system design, load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, piping, ventilation, and other building mechanical systems
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred; EIT candidates actively progressing toward PE licensure will also be considered
• Experience with applicable mechanical engineering and design platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IESVE, EnergyPlus, or similar industry-specific software preferred
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IECC, energy codes, and applicable mechanical and building codes
• Experience preparing mechanical engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and construction documents
