Harmon, Inc.
The Manufacturing Engineer is a hands‑on role responsible for improving manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, cost, and overall operational performance. This role independently owns improvement initiatives, technical problem solving, process optimization, and project execution while partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and shop‑floor employees to deliver sustainable, measurable results.
Identify and execute manufacturing improvements that increase productivity, throughput, quality, safety, and cost performance.
What you need to be successful
Take responsibility for assigned improvements from initial problem definition through implementation and sustained results. Maintain strong follow‑through and accountability for commitments, actions, and project deliverables.
Move from analysis to action. Test practical solutions, remove barriers, and maintain momentum while balancing safety, quality, cost, and operational needs.
Work effectively with operators, supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and leadership. Communicate technical issues clearly, listen to the people doing the work, and build alignment around solutions.
Spend time where the work occurs to understand the current condition, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that can be implemented and sustained by the operation.
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and implement improvements that increase safety, quality, productivity, throughput, capacity, and cost performance. Identify waste, constraints, variation, and recurring operational issues.
Lead manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects from opportunity identification through implementation, validation, and sustainment. Establish clear objectives, actions, milestones, expected impact, and completion dates.
Lead structured root‑cause investigations for manufacturing issues involving equipment, tooling, quality, productivity, labor, or process performance. Develop countermeasures, verify effectiveness, and prevent recurrence.
Improve fabrication, machining, CNC, assembly, and related manufacturing processes through setup reduction, cycle‑time improvement, tooling optimization, process refinement, and improved methods.
Develop, modify, and improve tooling, fixtures, equipment, layouts, and manufacturing methods to improve repeatability, ergonomics, flow, quality, and operational performance.
Analyze labor, production, downtime, throughput, scrap, quality, and capacity data to identify constraints and improvement opportunities. Improve labor utilization, material flow, machine utilization, and available capacity.
Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, process documentation, and visual controls. Partner with Operations to ensure improvements are practical, consistently followed, and sustained over time.
Develop business cases, quantify expected impact, track project performance, and validate measurable improvements in productivity, labor efficiency, cost, throughput, equipment utilization, scrap, rework, and process stability.
