Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Level 3 or 4 to support our Mechanical Systems & Design group in Gilbert, Arizona. You will develop spacecraft structures and mechanical hardware from requirements through integration and testing, using advanced CAD tools to produce detailed designs and manufacturing documentation.

The role requires Creo Parametric proficiency, MB drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and the ability to obtain DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience with Creo Parametric and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead MGSE development and perform detailed MGSE design.
• Review cost and schedule planning for MGSE projects.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to MGSE engineers.
• Lead initial sizing of MGSE through hand calculations.
• Coordinate with customers, programs, I&T, and suppliers.
• Lead small proposal activities and write SOWs.
• Explain structural issues to management and customers.

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Level 3 or Level 4 to support our Mechanical Systems & Design group based in Gilbert, Arizona.

In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will support the development, and integration of spacecraft structures and mechanical hardware, taking projects from initial requirements through to integration and testing. The selected candidate will utilize advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and related software to create detailed designs, develop documentation for manufacturing, and support assembly into flight-ready spacecraft.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ability to Lead MGSE development and work as an individual contributor performing detailed MGSE design and utilizing modeling CREO parametric Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document designs
• Review/Perform cost and schedule planning for MGSE projects and proposals
• Provides technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to other engineers within the MGSE section
• Ability to Lead initial sizing of MGSE through hand calculations analysis and work as an individual contributor
• Review of completed analyses and drawings to ensure designs conform to MGSE standards
• Coordination and communication with customers, programs, Integration and Test (I&T), functional management, other engineering disciplines and component suppliers
• Lead small proposal activities, writes requirement specifications and experience with statement of work (SOW)
• Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives

This requisition may be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4 based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications - Level 3

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of engineering experience or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering related STEM field with 3 years of engineering experience
• Experience with Creo Parametric
• Experience generating Model Based Drawings with application of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standard
• Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Ability to provide technical leadership, over‑site and direction to MGSE teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, processes and applications (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.).
• Combination of knowledge and experience in the following areas: complex integration and qualification/acceptance testing, product development including mechanical design and materials.
• Demonstrated ability to make difficult technical decisions with data driven judgment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 8 years of engineering experience or a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 6 years of engineering experience

• Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
