Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is offering a Mechanical Engineer Intern position at their Macon, GA plant. You will work on assigned engineering projects, support capital and maintenance engineering initiatives, and gain exposure to project management life cycle, drawings, and plant operations.

The role emphasizes collaboration, strong communication, and hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Excel, and PowerPoint while pursuing a BS Mechanical Engineering with ABET accreditation and a GPA of 3.0 or

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) at an ABET accredited program AND be a maximum of 24 months away from graduation
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (cumulative, and within major)

Responsibilities

• Complete an assigned engineering project during the internship term
• Contribute to ongoing capital engineering projects within the plant
• Prepare project specifications and requirements
• Coordinate project schedules and use Project Management tools
• Assist with installation oversight and project closeout activities
• Gain exposure to large-scale manufacturing facilities and safe practices
• Utilize AutoCAD to update drawings and create new ones
• Learn about conveying, combustion, fluid, and pneumatic transfer systems
• Support Asset management, PM/PdM, and maintenance best practices

Engineering Internship Program Offerings

Mechanical - Capital Engineering Intern:

• Completing an assigned engineering project during the term of the internship
• Contributing to several ongoing capital engineering projects within the plant
• Experience with and exposure to supporting the Project Management Life Cycle, including:
• Preparation of project specifications and requirements
• Project schedule coordination and utilization of Project Management tools
• Installation oversight, project closing activities, and sustainability initiatives
• Valuable insight into large-scale manufacturing facilities, equipment, and safe working practices
• AutoCAD experience - updating existing drawings and creating new drawings
• Exposure to Conveying, combustion, fluid, and pneumatic transfer systems

Mechanical - Maintenance Engineering Intern:

• Experience with and exposure to the primary components of Equipment Reliability, including:
• Asset management and process improvement
• Capital management and execution
• Contractor integration and management
• Development of machine maintenance best practices (PM,PdM, and more)
