Job summary

Dennis Group is seeking a mechanical engineering student to support HVAC and plant utility design for food and beverage projects. You will perform load, energy balance, drainage, and flow analyses, draft PID/ drawings, and help coordinate with internal and external teams. Travel to project sites is expected up to 25%, GPA 3.0+ preferred.

You'll develop mechanical and process utility distribution plans, review submittals, and assist with BMS-related details and specifications.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related field.
• HVAC/utilities design experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform heating and cooling load calculations.
• Perform mass energy balance calculations.
• Perform drainage and line loss calculations.
• Perform flow test analysis ( hydrant or other ).
• Sanitary design considerations (layouts, process exhaust).
• Assist in mechanical system design development and coordinate with team members.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment layouts, and distribution plans.
• Size and develop layouts for ductwork and piping plans.
• Create project documents including calculations, reports and drawings.
