Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and motivated Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about solving problems and improving the lives of people. SEL develops critical products that provide the main interface for protecting, controlling, monitoring, and analyzing the power grid.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in Pullman, WA.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with 1–2 years of engineering education completed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent.
• One year SolidWorks experience (or equivalent CAD software).
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Teamwork oriented and cooperative in a team environment.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL; negative drug test results.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and 3D-print simple mechanical tools and fixtures.
• Design simple, custom, tabletop automation equipment.
• Update SolidWorks models and drawings.
• Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, SolidWorks).
• Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures.
