Jane Street in New York seeks a Mechanical Engineer Intern to support a highly technical group responsible for trading floors and data centers. You will collaborate with mentors on real-world projects and learn to design resilient infrastructure.

You will visit project sites, prepare reports, and develop engineering solutions while learning from full-time engineers in a fast-paced IT-centric environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a mechanical or electrical engineering degree; hands-on experience in one or more of these areas is preferred.
• Open-minded and willing to learn engineering skills outside of a specific discipline.
• Comfortable in an IT-centric environment.
• A strong communicator who can describe detailed problems with brevity and accuracy.
• Proficient at using AI tools to increase efficiency while having a strong understanding of engineering first principles and able to explain methods/results.
• Interested in sustainability and wellness goals for data centers and office spaces.
• Pursuing professional engineering licensure (EIT is recommended)

Responsibilities

• Support a highly technical group responsible for providing trading and data center environments.
• Research and design resilient systems within data centers and office spaces.
• Work with the group to perform research analysis and design resilient systems.
• Visit project sites to analyze existing conditions and project construction progress for all engineering disciplines.
• Prepare project documents, including meeting minutes, field reports, and investigation reports.
• Plan for design capacity with a local and global perspective.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced environment with engineers and non-engineers.
