This is a paid internship. Compensation will be discussed during the interview process.

Company Overview

3D Architech is pioneering next-generation metal manufacturing infrastructures that push the boundaries of design at an unprecedented scale – at 10 micron and lower. Our proprietary, gel‑enabled metal manufacturing platform enables geometries, thermal performance, and materials combinations that are not achievable with conventional additive or subtractive processes. Our operation spans the USA, Japan, and Taiwan, bridging advanced materials R&D with scalable manufacturing for thermal management applications. As we expand our R&D operations in the US, we’re seeking talented engineers to drive our manufacturing technology and the development of application-specific products for cooling devices.

Job Summary: Mechanical Engineer Intern

In this internship, you will gain hands‑on experience across the full mechanical development cycle: translating concepts, verbal instructions, sketches, and drawings into practical designs and CAD files, helping fabricate and assemble parts or fixtures, and quickly evaluating the resulting devices or setups through hands‑on measurements.

Through this design-build-test cycle, your work will contribute directly to business-driven R&D and customer-relevant technology development in thermal management and advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings using CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks. Support mechanical design activities while considering manufacturability, tolerances, assembly requirements, and fabrication methods.

  • Support the fabrication, assembly, and improvement of test fixtures and evaluation setups for internally developed materials and devices.

  • Perform measurements and testing according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Record data accurately and maintain clear documentation of test conditions and results.

  • Organize and summarize technical and numerical data using Office and engineering software tools.

  • Clearly document design revisions, fixture changes, test procedures, measurement conditions, and results to support knowledge sharing and reproducibility.

  • Collaborate with team members to support design, fabrication, testing, and problem‑solving activities.

  • Quickly learn and apply new engineering tools, methods, and procedures. Take responsibility for assigned tasks and complete them safely, diligently, and in a timely manner while adapting to changing project needs.

  • We are looking for candidates with the following additional traits:

  • Strong CAD skills, with SolidWorks experience preferred. Ability to create practical 3D models and 2D engineering drawings from design concepts, sketches, verbal instructions, or reference drawings.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, including manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and assembly considerations.

  • Comfort working with small devices, delicate parts, numerical data, Microsoft Office tools, and other technical software with concentration and attention to detail.

  • Strong logical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to perform basic engineering and mathematical calculations, assess the validity of measurement data, and communicate technical findings using quantitative reasoning and numerical data.

  • Ability to follow standard procedures, perform measurements consistently, and accurately record and organize technical data.

  • Ability to document work clearly and thoroughly in drawings, spreadsheets, written notes, and shared databases.

  • Motivated to learn new tools, methods, and engineering concepts. Able to accept feedback, improve based on guidance, and contribute effectively in a hands‑on startup environment.
