Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) through coursework or projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with product design, development, and improvement projects under supervision.
  • Create and update engineering drawings, models, and documentation using CAD software.
  • Support engineering change requests by updating documentation, drawings, bills of material, and related records.
  • Assist with prototype builds, product testing, and validation activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze engineering test data and prepare summaries of findings.
  • Support research and development projects through data gathering, testing, and documentation.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of work instructions, test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product development and production needs.
  • Assist with First Article Inspection and component qualification activities as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and support document control processes.
  • Participate in team meetings to gain an understanding of engineering workflows, product development processes, and manufacturing operations.

Position Title: Mechanical Engineer Intern

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Role Summary: The Mechanical Engineer Intern provides hands‑on engineering support to the Engineering team while gaining practical experience in product design, testing, documentation, and manufacturing processes within a manufacturing environment. This role offers exposure to mechanical engineering principles, product development activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams to support engineering projects, maintain technical documentation, and assist with testing and validation activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers with product design, development, and improvement projects under supervision.
  • Create and update engineering drawings, models, and documentation using CAD software.

Education/Experience:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based with regular exposure to engineering, manufacturing, and production environments.
  • Occasional time spent on the production floor supporting testing, product evaluations, and engineering projects.
  • May be required to stand, walk, bend, or lift materials and components up to 25 pounds.
