Job summary

DMF Lighting is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design residential and commercial luminaires from concept to manufacturing in Carson, CA. This onsite role requires hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical products, and proficiency in CAD tools.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 1 year in design and development; familiarity with consumer electronics and certification processes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in design and product development; consumer electronics a plus.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or Creo.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical products, assembly, and qualification testing.
• Experience with DFM and GD&T.
• Familiar with plastics to aluminum and other metals.
• Knowledge of injection molding, die-casting, extrusion, and sheet metal processes.
• Familiar with certification processes for codes such as NEC or building codes.
• Excellent communication skills.

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with knowledge of product design and qualification.

Pay range is $70,000-$100,000 (based on skills/knowledge/experience).

Location: Carson, CA (onsite)

Roles and responsibilities are as following:

• Design residential and commercial luminaires from concept to manufacturing
• Pursue project activities and ensure on-time completion of tasks
• Qualify the products through the certification processes
• Work across sourcing, production, and quality departments to deliver products
• Identify product issues, root-cause, and drive towards a solution

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 1 years of experience in design and product development; experience in consumer electronics is a plus.
• Professional with Solidworks or Creo
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical products, assembly, and qualification testing
• Experience with DFM and professional with GD&T
• Familiar with thermal analysis and testing in electronic systems
• Familiar with material properties from plastics to Aluminum and other metals.
• Knowledge of injection molding, die-casting, extrusion, and sheet metal processes
• Familiar with the certification process for codes such as NEC or building codes
