Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical engineer for thermal analysis in Tucson, requiring a Master's in a STEM field and experience with FloTHERM/ANSYS. The role involves hands-on calculations, detailed thermal analyses, and coordinating with peers and customers to meet program requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Physics, Math, or related STEM major obtained by start date.
  • Experience in thermal analysis with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS.
  • Experience in thermal analysis solutions inside and outside of finite element tools.

  • Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware requirements

What You Will Do

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Physics, Math, or related (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience in thermal analysis with any of the following tools: FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS
  • Experience in thermal analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
  • Experience in Electronics Cooling and Aerodynamic Heating Analyses
  • Demonstrated experience in thermal testing: Planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlation
  • Experience presenting to external customers
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities

  • Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.

  • The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
  • Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
