Job summary

Raytheon in Tucson, AZ is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the Harness and Interconnect group within the Precision Control Actuation System department. You will contribute to development, build, and verification of harnessing systems for tactical missile IPTs.

The role is onsite in Tucson; you will work with cross-functional teams, apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and contribute to proposals and estimates. DoD Secret clearance is required, active on day one.

The Precision Control Actuation System department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the Harness and Interconnect organization to support the development, build, and verification of harnessing systems. The PCAS organization staffs engineers for a variety of roles supporting primarily tactical missile Integrated Product Teams.

Onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

• At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously with regular and periodic oversight, have knowledge of the harness and interconnect domain, and coach and review the work of other professionals.
• Support may include but is not limited to detailed mechanical design, test design and execution, systems engineering, proposals and estimates, or earned value management.
• You will be expected to flex responsibilities based on the current needs of the organization and their respective skill sets.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
• A minimum of 2 years of engineering design experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with development of harnessing requirements, system architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance & function, safety and environmental compliance
• Experience working with a wide variety of industry / military standards and specifications
• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
• Experience with any Harness and Interconnect systems
• Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation
• Proven design and manufacturing knowledge in machined parts, injection molded parts, wire harnesses/flex harnesses and related components

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
