About the role:

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will collaborate with engineering teams to design, analyze, and evaluate systems, applying engineering principles, codes, and standards such as ASME and ANSI.


You will report to the Facilities Support Lead/Supervisory Engineer for OP Mechanical Systems. This position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days/week on-site in Columbia, SC, at the manager's discretion.


Responsibilities:
  • Resolve technical issues supporting the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) for capital and expense projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on system design, analysis, and evaluation using engineering software.
  • Apply engineering principles and standards like ASME and ANSI.
  • Develop calculations and reports in compliance with ASME Section VIII, IX, X, API, and other codes and standards.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and oversee construction activities.
  • Perform factory and site acceptance testing, as well as startup and commissioning services.
  • Engage in procurement engineering and optimize parts for projects.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot existing equipment issues.
  • Coordinate with electrical, I&C, civil, and structural engineers.
  • Represent the team internally and externally.
  • Present technical materials and justify design choices.
  • Assist with emergent issues and after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering design experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Interest in obtaining a professional engineering license or has passed the EIT/FE exam.
  • Ability to interpret NRC and OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the power industry, manufacturing, or chemical plants.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section VIII and B31.3 criteria.
