What You’ll Do

As an Engineer II, you'll independently apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or selected segments of larger work—owning coordination, analyses, and documentation while helping keep deliverables on schedule, on budget, and aligned with client and code requirements.

  • Assume responsible charge for projects within your experience and expertise; serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on assigned work.
  • Develop design approaches and concepts with conceptual input/oversight from senior technical staff; perform studies and design analyses using industry software.
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, develop operating procedures, and provide technical information for sequences of operation.
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects; document decisions, risks, and action items.
  • Evaluate work of designers/EITs and provide feedback and corrections; review work for technical accuracy prior to final QA/QC.
  • Lead or participate in jobsite visits to monitor progress and observe installed construction; comment based on specifications, owner expectations, and codes.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate construction and government standards.
  • Identify model/drawing collisions and drive timely resolution with design staff; perform/oversee clash detection workflows.
  • Develop the discipline manhour budget and workplan; track progress to schedule/budget and provide updates to the project manager.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals; respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction.
  • Assist with preparation and implementation of proactive QA/QC plans; contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and client presentations.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and code changes; participate in professional organizations to enhance SSR's technical reputation.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and developmental guidance of engineers, designers, and EITs; may provide input during employee reviews.
  • When requested, assist the Project Manager in facilitating selected project duties.
