Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for designing, developing, and executing innovative automation solutions at our Greenville, SC facility. The role emphasizes applying standard engineering practices to conventional projects with some autonomy and collaboration across teams.

You will work on improving design and workflow while traveling up to 25% for on-site support and customer engagements, with a path toward more complex assignments as you gain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or ABET/EAC-equivalent or related experience.
  • 3+ years as Mechanical Engineer.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, AutoCAD).
  • FE Exam or EIT desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed technical designs for automated manufacturing solutions.
  • Evaluates standard techniques and adapts methods for conventional projects.
  • Collaborates and reviews work within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Contributes to design and workflow improvements in automation projects.
  • May lead portions of projects and guide junior teammates.

Location Type:

The position is onsite at our Greenville, South Carolina facility.

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features
  • Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptations in methods for nonroutine aspects of assignments
  • Works on small projects or portions of larger projects
  • May review the technical output of team members

What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, Associate's degree (2-year) with experience from accredited program (ABET/EAC), or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years’ work experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Experienced with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX, AutoCAD)
  • FE Exam, or EIT desirable
  • Proficient in the application of standard and advanced engineering principles, practices, and procedures
  • Breadth and depth of experience to enterprise engineering problems
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to accomplish tasks
  • Able to quickly recognize and fix common engineering problems based on experience, including review and critique of others' work
  • Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience in the automation industry is strongly preferred.
  • Travel required up to 25% including overnight and international
