Job summary

JBT Marel in Kingston, NY is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and test mechanical systems for food equipment. You will work with cross-functional teams to define customer needs, develop new features, and ensure designs meet specifications.

Responsibilities include CAD layouts, DFMEA, cost estimations, and solving field problems, plus collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing and suppliers to improve cost/value. Onsite/hybrid role with travel up to 10-15%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Technology or comparable work experience.
• Experience with 3D design tools and CAD systems.
• Experience in multicultural, multi-discipline organizations.
• 5+ years in automatic, industrial food processing equipment or similar product development.

Responsibilities

• Work in teams on concept development, testing, investigation and verification of designs.
• Focus on function, reliability, safety, production technologies and cost.
• Create maintenance and mechanical designs, layouts, assemblies and drawings.
• Prepare assembly/detail drawings and bill of materials.
• Ensure work follows company MEDS guidelines and international standards.
• Possibly delegate tasks to engineering partners.

The Opportunity

At JBT Marel, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and test mechanical systems for food equipment machinery. You'll work with cross-functional teams to define customer needs, develop new features, and ensure designs meet specifications. Important responsibilities include CAD layouts, DFMEA, cost estimations, and solving mechanical field problems. You'll also collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers to increase the cost/value relationship of our designs.

This position is located within Kingston, NY.

Responsibilities

Main Tasks

• Work in teams on the development of concepts, testing, investigation and verification of designs
• Pay attention to the implementation of the function, cleaning aspects, reliability, safety, production technologies and cost price
• To build the maintenance and mechanical design of machinery, layouts, assemblies and components, to fulfill the design and requirements, to prepare assembly/detail drawings and part lists
• Work on the mechanical deliverables according to plan
• Make sure that the work is carried out following Company guidelines (MEDS) and international standards
• Part of the role can be to delegate tasks to engineering partners

Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of relevant production technics, materials and components
• Knowledge of the food processing industry requirements
• Experience with mechanics and industrial automation
• Understand the value of the reuse of others' ideas, standardization and modularization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Technology or comparable work experience
• Experience with or knowledge of 3D design tools
• Experience with and comfort working in multicultural, multi-discipline organization
• 5+ years of experience in automatic, industrial food processing equipment or similar fields in product development is a.
• Proficiency in CAD systems such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through hands‑on experience in design, testing, or troubleshooting.
• Experience with mechanical design principles and product development processes.
• Apply advanced mathematical concepts and engineering principles.
• Familiarity with lifecycle management of design data, including CAD models, drawings, and ECNs.

Travel & Location

• You will be onsite/hybrid and travel up to 10-15% of the time.

COMPENSATION RANGE

$75,000– $110,000 - Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
