RTX is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department in Huntsville, AL. The role offers hands-on experience from initial design to qualification testing, with a diverse set of assignments across global locations.

You will join a team of 200+ engineers, performing classical stress analyses and modern FEM techniques using leading tools, and supporting field tests worldwide.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and less than 2 years of prior experience.
• Academic or professional experience in structural design and analysis.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis.

Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

The Mechanical Engineer II – Structural Engineer position is located in Huntsville; AL and the role is onsite.

Raytheon is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer to join the MA&T Department. In this role you will get the opportunity to work on products throughout their lifecycle from initial design trade studies and proposals through qualification testing to enduring production support. Entry level engineers will join and learn from a team of 200+ engineers working in all areas of structural engineering, and can expect a wide variety of assignments, from classical stress analyses to cutting edge computer aided analysis methodologies and field test support at locations around the world.

What You Will Do

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis
• Perform detailed structural analyses to solve various program structural design challenges
• Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to requirements
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environments
• Work with experienced analysts on problems of moderate complexity to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience
• Academic or professional experience in structural design and analysis
• Academic or professional experience with any of the following tools: PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent software
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment and independently
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
• Experience with Matlab
• Structural test and instrumentation experience
• Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
• Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
