Job summary

Longshot Space Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our core engineering team, supporting design, development, and testing of hardware for our kinetic launch technology. You’ll work on high-pressure gas systems, thermal protection, and structures to power our launch and vehicle platforms, on-site in Alameda, CA.

This hands-on role offers growth on technical and leadership tracks, with collaboration across mechanical, electrical, fluids, and aerospace teams, gaining exposure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with high-pressure gas/fluid systems > 500 psi.
  • Hydrogen safety or propulsion lab exposure is a bonus.
  • Strong organizational and executional skills, including documentation and planning.
  • Passion for learning and working in a fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, testing, and integration of accelerator and vehicle systems.
  • Contribute to design, manufacture, and test for key subsystems.
  • Participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting hardware in lab and field environments.
  • Support development and debugging of embedded firmware within data acquisition systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for electronic and firmware systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure electrical systems meet performance and reliability goals.
  • Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical, fluids, and software components.
