Job summary

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering seeks a Mechanical Engineer I/II to design, develop, test, and produce mechanical and electro‑mechanical products for aerospace, defense, industrial, and energy sectors. This hands-on, early-career role offers exposure across design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing within a collaborative team.

You will create 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation, using CAD tools, and apply GD&T, DFM/DFA, and tolerance analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• At least 1 year of related experience in mechanical design of electronic & electrical products, components, subassemblies, and finished goods.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Create and update 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation.
• Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
• Apply basic DFM/DFA, GD&T, materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing principles.
• Support prototype builds, testing, qualification, and production.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues and help identify root causes.
• Work with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers.
• Research components, materials, and design alternatives.
• Support engineering changes, configuration control, and technical documentation.
• Assist with environmental and qualification testing, including MIL-STD requirements.

The Opportunity

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I / II to support the design, development, testing, and production of mechanical and electro-mechanical products used in aerospace, defense, industrial, and energy applications.

This is a hands-on role for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving design problems, working across disciplines, and seeing products move from concept through manufacturing.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems
• Create and update 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and engineering documentation
• Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools
• Apply basic DFM/DFA, GD&T, materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing principles
• Support prototype builds, testing, qualification, and production
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues and help identify root causes
• Work with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers

Job Qualifications

• Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerancing
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working hands-on with prototypes, test hardware, and manufacturing teams
• Accelerated life testing

Experience with GD&T, DFM/DFA, machining, sheet metal, welding, thermal or structural analysis, MIL-STD testing, or electro-mechanical packaging is a plus.
