Job summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering in Lenexa, KS is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer to grow our standards and tools while contributing to projects across biogas, water treatment, and industrial facilities. You will gain hands-on experience in mechanical/process engineering and work within a diverse team.

Candidates should have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, strong communication skills, and proficiency with design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow (or equivalent) is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of mechanical systems for biogas, water/wastewater, pump stations, and other industrial facilities.
• Prepare design calculations and equipment specifications for typical project scope.
• Review contracts and RFPs and incorporate requirements into design.
• Perform technical bid analyses for equipment and processes.
• Generate and check design deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, vendor drawings).
• Support construction teams on-site and coordinate with partners and suppliers.
• Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing for projects.
• Conduct early design work including conceptual studies and process flow diagrams.
