Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I for our Charlotte, NC Engineering Design Center. We welcome candidates ranging from entry-level to experienced engineers to contribute to design, planning, procurement, and installation quality of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, developing equipment and piping designs with CAD and 3D tools, and providing technical expertise. On-site visits and construction environments are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Complete project specific objectives on time under the direction of Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
• Assist mechanical designers and drafters in developing the structural design of equipment and piping systems using CAD and 3D design software.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.
• Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility and operation.
• Specify system components or direct modification to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Develop and coordinate production aspects including manufacturing methods and fabrication.
• Independently evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques with some adaptations.
• Present technical information to peers for review and implementation of operating procedures.
