Job summary

Maintainer Corp of Iowa in Sheldon, IA is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer I to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of service truck bodies and related products.

Under guidance of senior staff, you will create 3D models and drawings, maintain BOMs, collaborate across functions, and apply DFMA principles to deliver safe, manufacturable solutions. This role is on site in Sheldon, IA with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to apply engineering principles through coursework, internships, or hands-on activities.
• Ability to read and create engineering drawings per ASME standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and vehicle body systems using 3D CAD software.
• Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and change documentation.
• Apply DFMA principles to improve quality and reduce cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design and production issues.
• Develop product validation testing plans and reports.
• Support continuous improvement and new product development initiatives.
