Job summary

Raytheon Marlborough is seeking a Mechanical Engineering I to contribute to the Undersea & Electronics Systems department, designing components for defense systems and supporting integration with factories and suppliers.

Requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, CAD experience, and CREO proficiency; travel may occur CONUS. This is an onsite role with DoD clearance considerations.

Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers. The UES department is looking for full‑time Mechanical Engineering I, located in Marlborough, MA.

What You Will Do
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
  • Support the factory and suppliers with product integration.
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions to solve complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced, team environment.
  • Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation.
  • Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related (STEM) field obtained prior to start.
  • Experience with CAD modeling software.
  • Experience with CREO.

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics packaging.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience on DoD programs.
  • Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
