Job summary

Nortek Data Center Cooling is a part of Madison Air and a premier HVAC provider for data centers, focusing on optimized cooling solutions for hyperscale environments. The Mechanical Engineer will support product development from cradle-to-grave, applying engineering principles to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.

Responsibilities include collaborating with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to capture customer needs, performing analyses, sizing, and documenting designs for manufacturing transfer,

Qualifications

• BSME from an accredited university or applicable engineering work experience.
• 3-5 years of engineering work experience; HVAC preferred.
• CFD experience preferred.
• Self-starter capable of cross-functional collaboration.
• PE certification is a plus; MSME is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Works with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to develop product requirements based on customer needs.
• Analyzes systems using tools including FEA, analytical formulas, benchmark designs, etc.
• Run sizing and optimization exercises for pumps, valves, and flow control devices.
• Familiar with piping layouts and material selection (PVC, stainless steel, copper, HDPE).
• Uses DFMEA, PFMEA, and DFMA to improve design quality and reliability.
• Develops Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensures documentation for designs moving to commercialization.
• Collaborates with operations to integrate designs into current manufacturing capabilities.
• Develops advanced designs with operations to deliver high-quality, value-based solutions.
• Mentors junior mechanical engineers; performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
