Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Industrial Team. The role focuses on campus utilities, industrial processes, and institutional clients.

You will help design central energy plants, upgrade mechanical systems, and tackle unique challenges in the built environment, including ventilation and HVAC systems. You will perform engineering tasks under supervision, with opportunities to grow technically and pursue PE licensure within three years, while gaining field experience

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years mechanical engineering in design or construction.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit desired.
• Experience with pipe hydraulics and pipe stress analysis desired.
• Experience with HVAC, industrial ventilation, and ductwork design desired.
• FE exam completed or in progress; PE licensure pursued within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, vendors and clients.
• Develop plans, specs and cost estimates for multiple projects.
• Prepare studies, drawings or sketches and final design documents.
• Support construction activities, address RFIs and review submittals.
• Perform field data collection and site visits; some travel may be required.
• Stay current with building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Assist with steam and chilled water system projects.
