Job summary

Hanwha Ocean EPU in Houston, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to execute mechanical design activities for onshore and energy plant projects. The role supports development, review, and coordination of deliverables across concept, FEED, EPC(I), and construction phases.

Under the guidance of a Principal or Lead Engineer, you will review equipment, vendor documents, and interface with piping, process, and structural teams to ensure technically accurate results delivered on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of mechanical engineering experience in onshore power plant, oil and gas, EPC, EPCI, shipbuilding, or energy plant projects.
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical package equipment, rotating/static equipment, vendor coordination, or detailed engineering execution.
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices, project specifications, codes, and document control.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Strong written and spoken English for technical coordination, review, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design activities for mechanical packages, rotating and static equipment.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible, under the guidance of a Principal or Lead Engineer, for executing mechanical engineering and design activities for onshore power plant, oil and gas, EPC, shipbuilding, and energy plant projects. This role supports the development, review, and coordination of mechanical deliverables across concept, pre‑FEED, FEED, EPC(I), detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning support, and as‑built documentation phases.

The position works closely with lead engineers, detailed engineering contractors, vendors, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure mechanical deliverables are technically accurate, compliant with project requirements, and delivered in line with schedule and quality expectations. The Mechanical Engineer supports equipment specifications, vendor document review, technical calculations, interface coordination, and resolution of mechanical engineering issues.

This role requires practical mechanical engineering knowledge, familiarity with onshore power, oil and gas, or energy project environments, and the ability to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibility

• Prepare and support mechanical engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, calculations, equipment documentation, technical reports, and design inputs for onshore plant projects.
• Support mechanical design activities for mechanical packages, rotating equipment, static equipment, and related systems under the guidance of senior or lead engineers.
• Review vendor and subcontractor documents, including datasheets, P&IDs, general arrangements, 3D model inputs, weight data, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with piping, layout, process, structural, electrical, instrumentation, construction, commissioning, procurement, vendors, and project management teams.
• Check mechanical deliverables for compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client requirements.
• Support feasibility studies, pre‑FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning support, and as‑built documentation activities.
• Identify technical issues, prepare engineering clarifications, and support resolution of mechanical engineering concerns in collaboration with senior engineers and project stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, action lists, document review status, and technical inputs required for project execution and handover.
• Contribute to quality control of mechanical engineering deliverables and support continuous improvement of engineering work processes.

• Experience in field engineering, construction, commissioning, or operations support is an advantage.
• Experience working in multicultural, matrix, or contractor‑led engineering environments.
