Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for autonomous aircraft. You will work on gearboxes, bearings, housings, lubrication systems, and related interfaces with guidance from senior engineers.

You will build 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and perform foundational calculations and testing to meet performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Fundamental mechanical engineering principles including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and machine design.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems for autonomous aircraft.
• Create and update 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and interface docs.
• Perform sizing, material selection, tolerance analysis, and packaging calculations.
