Job summary

LaFrance Corp is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Project Management in Concordville, PA. You will lead global programs from pre-production through full-scale production, coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

You will evaluate feasibility, design production-ready processes, and manage vendor selections. This role requires travel to China and a BS in mechanical engineering with up to 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a mechanical, process, quality, or manufacturing engineer; relevant co-op and internship experience is included.
  • Working knowledge of ProE and AutoCAD software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects through timely completion.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Accounting.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to visualize desired outcomes and drive work toward results.
  • Ability to travel to LaFrance production facilities in China as required.

  • Manage global customer programs ranging from $10,000 to $1 million in annual sales from pre-production through full-scale production.
  • Evaluate product and manufacturing feasibility and recommend modifications needed to meet aesthetic and performance specifications.
  • Design process flows that support efficient, repeatable manufacturing.
  • Support vendor selection and lead vendor negotiations for assigned programs.
  • Develop product costing to support program planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee tooling kickoff, pre-production development, component qualification, and production ramp.
  • Collaborate daily with colleagues and customers in the United States and China to maintain alignment, address issues, and support successful program completion.

About the Role

Mechanical Engineers at LaFrance Corp are hired as Project Managers, giving early-career engineers the opportunity to take ownership of customer programs from pre-production and design for manufacturing through full-scale production.
