Job summary

GSA seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support FAS acquisition and supply functions, developing specifications and standards for assigned items. The role includes reviewing military specs and preparing documents to maximize competition and provide technical assistance to contracting activities.

You will act as the agency representative to industry and contribute to product development for national and worldwide support of federal agencies.

Qualifications

Requires a professional engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 in the Federal service.
Experience coordinating projects across multiple engineering disciplines.
Experience developing technical documents and specifications for acquisitions.

Responsibilities

Provide professional mechanical engineering support to FAS acquisition and supply functions; develop specifications and standards for items.
Review military specs and standards; prepare contract support documents and descriptions to optimize competition.
Assist contracting activities with technical proposals, sample inspections, and evaluation of quality issues.
Represent the agency to industry and participate in standards committees; analyze data for national and worldwide support of commodities.
