Job summary

GSA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide professional mechanical engineering support to Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) acquisition and supply functions for assigned items. The role includes developing new specifications and standards and modifying existing ones to maximize competition.

The position requires coordinating projects across engineering disciplines, reviewing military specifications, and assisting contracting activities with technical proposals, pre-production inspections,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 in Federal service.
Experience coordinating projects across multiple engineering disciplines and supporting acquisition of commodities.

Responsibilities

Provide mechanical engineering support to FAS acquisition and supply functions; develop/modify specifications and standards.
Review military specifications and standards; prepare recommendations to maximize competition.
Assist contracting activities with technical proposals, inspections, and evaluations; support post-contract actions.
Act as agency representative to industry for assigned commodity areas; develop products for national/worldwide support.
