Job summary

Altieri is seeking a Mechanical/Fire Protection Engineer to assist senior engineers in designing building plumbing, fire protection, and MEP systems. The role involves system design calculations, drafting, and collaboration with project teams across museums, universities, libraries, and cultural venues.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's in mechanical, fire protection, or architectural engineering and be pursuing or have an EIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, fire protection or architectural engineering

Responsibilities

• Design system calculations including heating and cooling loads, pipe and duct pressure, and psychrometric calculations
• Draft layouts in Revit; produce drawing sets with notes, details, and single-line risers
• Coordinate with mechanical engineers and staff to ensure quality engineering work
• Assist with submittals, RFIs, and construction administration
• Support sustainability goals and familiarity with codes and LEED
• Interact with clients and external stakeholders in a professional manner

Job Overview

An Engineer works with more experienced engineers to design building PlumbingFire Protection systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

• System Design CalculationsLearns system design and calculations includingHeating and cooling load calculationsPipe and duct pressure calculationsPsychrometric calculationsVentilation air calculationsSystem Design DraftingWorks with supervisor to layout ductwork piping and equipment utilizing Revit 3D softwareProduces drawing sets including but not limited to drawing notes details and single line riser diagramsSelects equipment such as fans diffusers terminal boxes fan coil units and pumpsGains understanding of different mechanical system types
• Construction AdministrationConducts preliminary review of submittals and RFIs
• SustainabilityGains experience working on sustainable projectsGains familiarity with various certifications LEED etc
• Design CoordinationCollaborates with fellow mechanical engineers within their studioAsks meaningful questions
• Client InterfacePresents self in a professional manner when interacting with external stakeholders

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree in mechanical fire protection or architectural engineering or similar field
• Has EIT certification or is working towards it
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Autodesk Revit a plus
