Job summary

Altieri is seeking an engineer to support the design of building plumbing, fire protection, and MEP systems for iconic venues and public projects. You will collaborate with senior engineers on system design calculations and draft using Revit.

You will gain exposure to RF modeling with Ekahau, learn IT/AV standards (BICSI, AVIXA), assist with submittals, RFIs, sustainability tasks, and cross-trade coordination with clients.

Qualifications

• Experience in building plumbing, fire protection or MEP design is beneficial.
• Familiarity with IT/AV systems and building codes is helpful.
• Willingness to learn industry standards (BICSI, AVIXA).

Responsibilities

• Produce draft equipment cooling loads for mechanical engineers.
• Model RF signal locations using Ekahau or similar software.
• Layout conduit, cable tray and data equipment using Revit.
• Create drawing sets with notes, details and single-line diagrams.
• Place rack, patch panels and network cabling; coordinate trades.
• Review submittals and RFIs during construction.
• Gain experience on sustainable projects and LEED certifications.
• Collaborate with AV & IT engineers and learn cross-trade impacts.
• Attend AV needs assessments with clients and present data.
• Familiarize with IT/building codes; IT BICSI and AVIXA standards.

Job Overview

An Engineer works with more experienced engineers to design building PlumbingFire Protection systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

• System Design Calculations
  • Provides draft of equipment cooling load for mechanical engineers
  • Works with senior engineers on data room placements based on TIA standards
  • Learns how to model wireless access point locations based on RF signal using Ekahau or similar software
• System Design Drafting
  • Works with supervisor to layout conduit cable tray and data equipment utilizing Revit 3D software
  • Produces drawing sets including but not limited to drawing notes details and single line diagrams
  • Places equipment such as racks patch panels data cables ground bars and network equipment
  • Gains understanding of different AV & IT system types
• Construction Administration
  • Conducts preliminary review of submittals and RFIs

  • Gains experience working on sustainable projects
