Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join our team at Somewhere, specializing in utility scale solar projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the clean energy sector by designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions for large-scale solar installations.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and oversee mechanical/electrical components for utility scale solar projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and system performance analysis for solar energy projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and presentations.
  • Utilize simulation and modeling tools to optimize system design and enhance energy production.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to mechanical and electrical systems within solar installations.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure best practices are utilized.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
  • Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with safety regulations on all projects.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus, although not required.
  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic systems and solar energy technologies.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and other relevant simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desired Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering within the renewable energy sector, specifically solar projects.
  • Experience with project management and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and codes relevant to solar energy systems.
  • Previous experience in utility scale solar project development is highly desirable.
