Rampart Products in Houston designs and builds rugged interconnect solutions for harsh environments. The Mechanical Engineer/Designer blends hands-on manufacturing with product design from concept to production, focusing on electro-mechanical downhole tools when needed.

Ideal candidates bring a strong CAD background, DFM/DFA expertise, and collaboration skills to drive robust, manufacturable designs for defense and energy applications.

Qualifications

• BSME with 2 years experience or AS with 5 years experience.
• Experience in manufacturing environments.
• Strong background in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, assembly.
• DFM and DFA principles.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Deadline- and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production (DFM/DFA).
• Support product development from concept through prototyping and final production.
• Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical issues in existing products and processes.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations.
• Work with vendors and suppliers on materials, components, and fabrication processes.
